XUE DAI

薛黛

B.1966

Xue Dai has been drawing children for many years now and has established a well-laid foundation in portrait drawing. By using a motherly viewpoint, she is able to capture gently and exquisitely the charm of the subject on the canvas. The children display a sweet and innocent expression, well-loved by all.

Born in Inner Mongolia in 1966, Xue Dai graduated from the School of Fine Art at the Inner Mongolia Teachers College in 1982 and became a secondary school art teacher in Liaoning Province the same year. She was appointed as a creative member of Liaoning Cultural Museum in 1987. She graduated from Liaoning Teachers College in 1993 and from advanced studies at the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1995. She has worked in Singapore as a professional artist since 1995.

A Fruity Day

Blessed Are Two

The Tint of Expectation

“Just like a child whom you easily accept when they appear in front of you, (Xue Dai's paintings) are innocent and natural as dewdrops, creeping soundlessly into your heart and making you feel comfortable.”
