Liu Gen is an artist who is often filled with emotion but finds it difficult to express his feelings freely. He turns to his creations on woodboard to solve the conundrum as he gains fulfiment from the challenges of creating a perfect print during the carving process on wood. There is often a child in his creations as the child’s innocence reminds him of himself. In his eyes, the innocence of a child is priceless and irreplaceable.
Liu Gen was born in Handan, Hebei, China in 1983. He graduated from the Printmaking Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and worked in the Printmaking Institute of the Hebei Academy of Fine Arts.
