WU HUNGCHUN
吳弘鈞
B.1987
Adept at calligraphy, seal engraving and painting, Wu HungChun’s works are based on oriental “Shan Shui” classics. He combines his knowledge of Chinese philosophy and masterful calligraphic skills to weave the natural order of landscapes into mountain ridges. This is his way of metaphorizing the value of the self, thereby reinterpreting the neoclassical “ridges” under the constraints of naturalism.
Born in Taiwan, Chiayi City, 1987. Wu HungChun studied Calligraphy and Painting at the National Taiwan University of Arts and obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2010, his master’s in 2013, and Ph.D. in 2019. He is currently an assistant professor of the Fine Arts department at Tainan University of Technology.
From 2020-2022, the Ministry of Education has presented Wu HungChun consecutively with ‘The National Lecture Host Award’, ‘The National Industry-Academia Masters Award’ and ‘The Academic Award’ with the chinese inscribed words ‘lead’. In 2020, he created the main cultural visual of the Taipei Confucius Temple with inscribed words of ‘Sacrificing to Confucius’ and was invited for an interview on Taiwan’s ‘Super Artists Design’ television program hosted by Huang Tzu-Chiao.
