WANG QIJUN

王麒均

B.1977

In an ode to individuality and self-existence, Wang QiJun has transformed the historical terracotta army and created a series of warriors with jovial expressions and exaggerated gestures. His soldiers are clad in vivid colors, presented in a cartoon-like style. An invitation to re-look at both the history and future of China in a clement and cheerful disposition.

Born in Jilin in 1977, Wang QiJun is presently a committee member of the Sculpture Division of the China Arts & Craft Institute as well as an art lecturer in sculpturing. In 2000, he has participated in the 9th National Ice Sculpting Competition in Har’bin and the China-Korea Sculpture Exhibition in both Shanghai and Changchun.
