Wang Yong was born in 1961, Sichuan, China. He graduated from the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 1984. At present, he is an art professor at the Printmaking Department of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, he is also a member of both the Chinese Artists Association and the China Watercolor Painters Association, a Vice-Chairman of the Hubei Watercolor Arts Committee and the deputy president of the Hubei Watercolor Painters Association.
Widely collected by private art collectors in China and globally, Wang’s works lay claim to many awards. In 1993, Everlasting Memories was presented with the Gold Award at the Changjiang Watercolor Exhibition; Blue Memories won the Award of Excellence at the 8th National Fine Arts Exhibition, China, 1994; Shimmers of Autumn was awarded the Bronze Award at the 7th Annual Watercolor Exhibition, China, 1997; Shangri-La awarded Bronze at China’s Watercolor Sketching Exhibition, China, 2003; and The Charm of Blue & White Porcelain and Coral Color awarded Bronze at the 10th Hubei Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition, China, 2004.
