XIE KE

B.1955
From his compositional precision to his executional technique, Xie Ke’s paintings and sculptures possess the grace of a graphic designer or that of an architect. A distinctive new Pop Art is found in his paintings, presenting multi-layers of implied meanings and symbolism. Whereas ‘the blindfolded youth’ brims with vitality, exuding his hope and faith in the future generation’s wisdom. A pure visionary, Xie Ke’s works adopt a blend of traditional oriental design and western innovative elements, achieving a zen state of mind yet fulfill a modern aesthetic look.
Born in Hong Kong in 1955, Xie Ke began his career working as a graphic designer and illustrator in the late 1970s. In 1980, he was the first foreign-visiting scholar to enter the Central Academy of Arts & Crafts (now known as Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design) in Beijing to deepen his study of Chinese traditional decorative art.
